Commoncraft Videos

Isn’t youtube great?  I know it’s probably blocked in your district, and can be tough to use it in the classroom, but I love the fact that we can find, make, or share videos with other people from around the world.  There are lots of youtube spin offs, like Teachertube.com is a youtube for educators. Or check out Hulu.com to watch popular TV shows and movies on demand.

One of my favorite videos are the paper illustrations made by Commoncraft. You can visit their Web site, or their Youtube channel to find more, but here are their explanations for Blogs, Wikis, and Podcasts.

Please watch all three videos prior to our class on Saturday.

  4. These were great. The videos answered a lot of my questions and really cleared up the differences between the three.
    Thanks!

  5. Thanks Karl. I liked these as well. Very clear cut and fun to watch.
Still fuzzy on meta as well.
Guess I should link up my blogger page and google page to my edublog page.
So much to blog about. So much to say! (Dave Matthews song, he is my favorite)

  6. I also can’t see the links. Does anyone have them that could post them here. Thanks.

  7. This is spooky. 10 minutes ago I bookmarked CommonCrafts video on photosharing to share with my Digital Photography students. If you post something about the other two resources I found today, nativewiki.org and trackstar.4teachers.org, I’m going to start looking at ouji boards.

  8. Brilliant. These videos are great for explaining the concepts to teachers.

  9. Karl

You’re killing me! I had no idea we would be commenting on so many things! Am I now officially a “commentator”? And is that similar to a being a “common tater”?

  10. Simple, but effective. The podcasting one gave me some possible ideas for my project.

  11. Love these videos! I know I will use them with students

  12. Here’s my favorite Common Craft video: http://www.commoncraft.com/zombies

  13. OMG — the zombie video was hilarious! I’m headed to Costco at the first sign of an outbreak!
The other videos were great…talk about “Plain English”!

  14. I was impressed by the quality of these videos. Brief, highly instructional, and creative. Blend of high and low tech that actually teaches. Well done. I need these people to explain the difference between a continent and a country to my students.

  15. I can’t see the links either-all I see are 3 white boxes…advice?

  16. Very cool, I find it so interesting that these tools are all free and allow anyone to publish, possibilities are endless. Creative commons is a great site that is helpful in explaining in a way anyone can understand. Thanks for sharing hulu, I am excited about using as my husband and I do not have cable it is great to watch shows we miss!

  17. Yes-I would advise anyone to bring a lap top from now on when you travel. Podcasting would have been a great way to record my trip–I had my ipod and camera, but with no computer it wasn’t recorded. Amazing how most places now have Wi-Fi!

  18. ok, I googled the Commoncraft videos and am subscribing to their rss feed. I love these videos! I will be doing several EdTec presentations this school year and will definitely be using these and other Commoncraft videos in my presentations; they are creative, short and easy to follow. I think they wikll not only enhance my presentations but make the topics I will be presenting soooo much more accessible to my audience.

  19. Entertaining and Engaging and I Learned Something Too!

What great training videos! Funny, entertaining, engaging…a great learning tool! These guys are really clever, I wish I had thought of doing that with a training video.

I will be subscribing to their RSS feed to use their videos in my presentations. The teachers will love it… Lets see, motivate and engage learners, Gagne would love it!

  20. Classroom publishing is a great idea. I am working on creating ideas for projects for my MUSD students to work on. Commoncraft was very cool.
